Weekly Art Lessons
Here at Roselle Fine Arts Academy we strive to create an environment to promote creativity, personal growth, and a sense of community. We like to think of our school as one big family, and once you take a class with us, you become part of that family!
In many of our weekly art lessons, students will use a wide variety of mediums, techniques, and styles. This includes drawing and painting mediums such as watercolor, acrylics, gouache, pastels, pen and ink, and charcoal, but also printmaking, collage, and clay to name just a few. We use quality art supplies to ensure students have a positive experience when exploring a new medium. Students will learn basic art concepts and techniques such as color theory, composition, and perspective. We explore art from different genres, specific artists, past and present, and art from a wide array of cultures around the world. Our small class sizes allow for one-on-one interactions with our teachers.

Art Exploration I
Wednesdays 4:45-5:45pM
MONdays 4:45-5:45pM [TENTATIVE]
Teacher: Cynthia Caldwell
Grades: 1-4
In this class, students will be introduced to a wide variety of mediums, techniques, and styles. This includes drawing and painting mediums, such as watercolor, acrylics, gouache, pastels, pen and ink, and charcoal, but also printmaking, paper cutting, clay, and weaving, to name just a few. Students will learn basic art concepts and techniques such as color theory, shading, sketching, and perspective. We explore art from different genres, specific artists, past and present, and art from a wide array of cultures around the world.
At this age, our goal is to expose them to various forms of art and materials they may not have at home or school. We combine step-by-step projects with time to explore mediums on their own. Projects are typically short, usually being done start to finish in a single class so that we may have variety each month.

At this age, our goal is to expose them to various forms of art and materials they may not have at home or school. We combine step-by-step projects with time to explore mediums on their own, using their own creativity. Projects are typically short, usually being done start to finish in a single class so that we may have variety each month.
The projects done in this class and Art Exploration I usually overlap. Art Exploration I is for grades 1-4, so often the same project is done but simplified for that class, or maybe the students in this class are given a bit more creative freedom. Since grades 3 & 4 overlap both classes, you may determine placement based on your assessment of your child’s skills.
Is your child more outgoing and maybe just looking for an after school activity? For grades 5 and up we also have Art Club, which includes similar types of projects, but is a little less structured and students are given a bit more freedom to take projects in their own direction, in an open, more social environment.
Art Club
Tuesdays 5:30-6:45pm
Teacher: Karen Scoles
Grades: 5 and up
In this class, students will use a wide variety of mediums, techniques, and styles, while having a chance to spend time with other students with similar interests. This includes drawing and painting mediums such as watercolor, acrylics, gouache, pastels, pen and ink, and charcoal, but also printmaking, collage, and clay to name just a few. Students will learn basic art concepts and techniques such as color theory, composition, and perspective. We explore art from different genres, specific artists, past and present, and art from a wide array of cultures around the world.
In this age group, our goal is to expose them to various forms of art and materials and help them develop their individual style. This class is typically project-based with teacher guidance, however, projects are longer and more independent than in the lower grade classes. If desired, you may request to work independently on a particular project or skill.

Ages: 18 & Up
Don’t have the space or supplies at home, or just want to relax and create with like-minded individuals? Or maybe you want to try a new medium before investing in your own supplies? Come to our studio to work on your art, whether it’s drawing with pencil, pen, or charcoal, painting with watercolor, acrylics, or gouache, or maybe you want to try oil pastels, soft/chalk pastels, block printing, collaging, papier mâché, or more. (See list of available supplies here.)
You may work independently, with an art instructor available for consult, or, upon request of the students, you could work on an instructor-led project or technique-building exercise. Just let us know what you’d like to get out of this!
Registration
If a class is in session, you may still enroll to begin the following month. If you would like to inquire about being added to a class sooner, please email us at info@rosellefa.com.
If a class is showing as sold out/not available and you would like to be added to the wait list, please contact us via email at info@rosellefa.com with details of the class, how many registrants, their information (names, ages), and best way to contact you. You will be contacted if a spot opens up and have 24 hours to respond before we try the next person on the list.
Refunds & Missed Classes
We understand things happen and plans change. But please realize that we often have to purchase dedicated supplies for classes in advance. And last minute cancellations may make a class fall below enrollment minimums. For this reason, we cannot issue refunds for most classes, even if missed due to illness or schedule conflicts. When possible, our teachers will provide a take-home kit with the supplies for the missed project, or allow make-up in another similar class if there is room and they are not already in the middle of a project. Please understand kits or make-ups are not always possible and will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
For planned absences with advanced notice- If you are aware of a vacation or upcoming conflict and notify the school PRIOR TO THE FIRST OF THE MONTH, we will prorate the upcoming month’s payment to reflect the absence. Notification must be given via the “Planned Absence Notification” tab on our website: https://www.rosellefa.com/absent-notification.
More information on our general school policies and art studio policies can be found on our Policies page.
