Our Policies
Please make sure to read our policies thoroughly. (Last updated October 1, 2023)
General School Policies
class Registration
Most classes require preregistration. Registration typically closes 24 hours prior to the start of class unless otherwise noted. If the minimum enrollment for a class is not met, you will be notified once registration has closed via email and will receive a full refund.
For multi-day camps, we will try to provide about 72 hours warning via email if we still have not met our enrollment minimum, but will usually leave the registration open until 24 hours prior to the start in hopes the numbers will be met in time.
If a class is showing as sold out and you would like to be added to the wait list, please contact us via email at info@rosellefa.com with details of the class, how many registrations, their information (names, ages), and best way to contact you. You will be contacted if a spot opens up, at which time you will have 24 hours to respond before we try the next person on the list.
Class Cancellations/no shows
We understand that things happen and plans change. But please understand that we often have to purchase dedicated supplies for classes in advance. And last minute cancellations may make a class fall below enrollment minimums or a teacher may travel to the school unnecessarily. For this reason, we have a no refund policy for most classes. If there is a wait list and someone on the list can take your spot, you may receive a refund, minus a $5 administration fee.
For our single-day events, if you notify us 72 hours or more in advance of the class, you will receive a credit towards a future class, minus a $5 administration fee. Notifications within the 72-hour window or no-shows will not receive a refund or credit.
For multi-day classes, lessons, workshops, and camps, you must notify us 5 days in advance of the start of the first day of the class to receive a credit towards a future class, minus a $5 administration fee. If you notify us 72 hours or more in advance of the start of the first class, you may receive a 50% credit, minus the $5 administration fee. Within the 72-hour window and after classes have begun, no refunds or credits will be issued. If there is a similar class being offered in which there is room, we may allow a transfer to the other class. This will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
If we must cancel a class last minute due to unforeseen circumstances, you will be notified as soon as possible and will be refunded the amount for that day’s class. In the event of inclement weather, each instructor will make the call whether they are able to come in for their classes. If they decide to run the class, we will not issue refunds if you do not come.
Private lessons cancellations/no shows

Conduct
We do not allow bullying, destroying of property, or out of control behavior. If a child acts up and disrupts a class, the instructor may contact the parent to request early pick up, or discuss the matter after class. If the child’s behavior continues to be a problem in future classes, the instructor may request that the parent attend with the child, or the child may not be allowed back in the classroom.
This applies to adults too. Treat everyone with respect. Do not use offensive, hostile, intimidating or vulgar language. Sexually explicit language or sexual harassment is expressly prohibited. Any disrespect, harm, or harassment to instructors or fellow students will not be tolerated. Please do not create a hostile or negative environment! Repeat offenders will be permanently banned from our facility.
ALLERGIES AND SPECIAL NEEDS
If you or your child has any special needs or limitations (whether physical, developmental, emotional, or psychological), please let us know so our teachers can be made aware and try to accommodate them.
Our facility is on the second floor of an historic building. We also utilize the basement for some classes. These areas are not handicap accessible.
Some art supplies contain allergens (e.g., honey, latex, eggs, gluten), and while we won’t be eating them, a student may come in contact with something on their skin or something airborne. If your child has any known allergies, please let us know on the registration form or immediately after registration via email to info@rosellefa.com.
Also note that the chocolate shop downstairs has free samples near the front door, which are tempting to children (and adults). If your child is not allowed to eat a sample due to allergies or other dietary restrictions, it is advised that you drop off and pick up your child directly at the classroom instead of dropping off/picking up outside the building.
Privacy
We don’t like being spammed either, so we won’t bombard you with emails. We typically send 2-3 emails per month, notifying you of upcoming events or policy changes. We never give your information to anyone else.
Photography
We will often take pictures during our classes and events of students for use in print or social media. If you do not want your or your child’s photo taken or used publicly, please make us aware at the beginning of the class/event. If we use a photo, we will not identify you in the photo by name, unless it is a special announcement (e.g., winner of an award).
Ceramics studio policies
Ceramics Studio rules
It is important all students review and follow the following ceramics studio rules for everyone’s safety.
Follow all instructions and heed all warnings from the instructor.
Students should stay on the classroom side and only enter the kiln room to use the utility sink.
Students should not touch the kiln or any other students’ pieces on tables or shelves.
Long hair should be tied back and loose sleeves pushed up before wheel throwing. Also, all jewelry should be removed.
No equipment should be used without the instructor present.
Working with clay is messy, so please wear old, comfortable clothes. Aprons are provided, but will not cover everything. Clay is water soluble, and usually does not stain.
Please wear proper foot attire. Floors can get wet and slippery.
Please do not bring in work made elsewhere or at home. We do not have the capacity to fire work not made during class and will only fire work made during a class or monitored open studio.
We are a teaching facility and our ceramics studio may not be utilized as a replacement for commercial rented studio space. The studio, kiln, equipment and glazes may not be used for the production of large quantities of work to sell. Students using the ceramics studios for these purposes will be restricted from this practice on a case by case basis, including limiting firing work and restricting clay amounts.
item pickup
You will be notified by phone or email when your work is ready for pick up, typically in 14 days, unless stated otherwise during the class. Please understand that we will do all we can to keep the turnaround time to a minimum, but we cannot promise a specific date. Clay can have a mind of its own, just like the weather, and sometimes it will take longer for pieces to dry, and sometimes we have a bottleneck with the kiln. If delays are substantial, we will notify you of the delay. All completed work must be picked up no later than 60 days after you have been notified. If there are circumstances that do not allow you to pick up your pieces within our 60 day period, please notify us. We will be more than happy to accommodate any reasonable request! We are not responsible for any pottery left longer than the allotted 60 days without special arrangements. Abandoned pieces will be donated, broken up for mosaics, or used as samples.
Additional note
Please be aware that ceramics can be unpredictable. There is always the possibility of cracking during drying, cracking or exploding in the kiln, or defects in glazing from contaminants. Our hearts sink when we see this happen! We will assist you in attempting to correct the defect if possible. If it is not repairable and we are at fault, we will allow you to come to a future Ceramics Independent Studio for free to remake your piece. However, we may determine that you are at fault by not properly wedging the clay or using proper connection techniques. Or maybe it was just something that happened with no fault of anyone; we feel worst about these, but it happens even to the pros. Roselle Fine Arts Academy is not responsible for broken or damaged work or pieces that do not meet your expectations. It’s the nature of clay!
Art studio policies
It is important all students review and follow the following art studio rules for everyone’s comfort and safety.
Follow all instructions and heed all warnings from the instructor.
Art can be messy! Please wear old, comfortable clothes. Acrylic paint can be permanent, and other paints and inks may also permanently stain fabric. While we provide aprons, they do not offer complete coverage. If you want to wear long sleeves, try to wear something that sleeves can be pushed up above the elbow comfortably. It is also recommended to tie long hair back.
No equipment should be used without the instructor present.
We take all possible precautions to make the studio a safe environment and we limit tools and supplies to appropriate age groups. However, accidents can still happen. Please review our legal section below regarding liability.
Do not judge others’ works! Unsolicited critique is not allowed. If asked for your opinion, please be kind in your response.
Never touch another student’s artwork without permission.
Always be mindful when working on your own artwork not to interfere with your neighbor.
Sometimes supplies must be shared. Please be respectful and ask the person who currently has what you need if they are done and you may take it.
Try to keep the volume down. We are located in a 100-year-old house with paper thin walls and we don’t want to disturb other lessons going on next door or the shop downstairs. In addition, some students are sensitive to the noise, so if requested to keep it down, please abide by the request.
We are a teaching facility and our art studio may not be utilized as a replacement for commercial rented studio space. The studio and supplies may not be used for the production of large quantities of work to sell. Students using the art studios for these purposes will be restricted from this practice as deemed necessary on a case by case basis.
Artwork
Any art left behind after a class must be picked up within 60 days. We may on occasion request artwork created in class remain at the school to be put on temporary display. You will receive your artwork back when the display is taken down.
